What it is, my friends?! Hump daaaaaayyy!! Yay!
Before I get to the post today, I want to say a quick "hi!" to anyone new who's reading. Thank you for stopping by!
Today I'm going to do another What it is Wednesday post since it's been awhile. This is basically anything I want to mention that I think is important or super cool or uber lame right now.
So let's do this.
First of all, I had another decent night of sleep last night, so I almost feel like a human. *almost*
I love how I used to be super selective and filter the shit out of any picture I'd put on Facebook or Instagram and now I'm like, WHATEVER put the worst picture I can take on my blog because I think it's funny and hopefully it makes someone laugh or feel better about themselves!
I woke up at 5:10 for my workout and was ready to get started around 5:30 when I heard Jules start to stir. She fussed on and off for a few minutes before I conceded defeat and brought her downstairs - she was awake and she wasn't going back to sleep. I ended up putting Moana on the tv and used my phone to play my workout, which mostly worked. My workout today was Back & Biceps from P90X and I had to walk out of the living room to do my pull-ups on my pull-up bar in the bathroom around the corner - whenever I'd do that she'd either start freaking out or run to the table I had my phone on and mess with it.
Don't worry, she spilled that cereal ALL over the place...
This picture is kind of embarrassing, not because of the cereal all over, but because of the stains and snot that I have kindly circled for your review. Gross. Luckily this is a slipcover so I just need to take it off and wash it. You know, when I have time and remember to do it.
I tried to get Jules to smile for a post-workout picture, but it wasn't happening. She kind of smiled in the last picture, so I'll call that good enough.
You might not be able to tell, but she has this huge red mark on her jaw/lower cheek - she fell while running around in school and seriously scraped her face up. It's a lot more noticeable in the picture above on the couch. Poor baby :-(
Now Jules may not have been super excited for our after workout picture today, but she was SUPER supportive after our run on Saturday. She's my #1 fan! Go mommy!! (at least that's the fantasy I have for our future).
I have some breaking news for you guys...
Just because it's organic does not mean it's healthy!
Justin and Jules are both on a Kix kick right now (say that 3 times fast). Jules is eating these organic Kix I found at Trader Joe's and Justin is eating actual Kix from Walmart because that's the kind he wanted.
I mean look...the organic brand is gluten AND wheat free. And it's organic and I got it from Trader Joe's so it must be better than the regular Kix from Walmart. (I don't usually buy organic, but was at TJ's and they sounded good, so there's some back story for you that you didn't ask for...my blog, I do what I want :-)
Organic brand is on the left, Kix is on the right. Let's break this down, shall we?
- The serving size of the organic brand is 3/4 cup and Kix is 1 and 1/4. So you get way more Kix in a serving size. To be fair, the Organic kind feel a lot more dense when you eat them, but still.
- For less cereal you actually have more calories at 120 vs Kix at 110
- The organic cereal has less sodium, so I give them props for that
- However the big kicker for me is that the organic cereal has 8g of sugar and 2g of fiber vs. Kix having only 3g of sugar and 3g of fiber.
Now I am not one of those people who think sugar is the devil - everything is fine in moderation. However when I tried both of them this morning there is a huge difference in taste and since I don't eat a ton of sugar the organic ones were almost sickeningly sweet. And I don't want Jules to get used to things being sickeningly sweet, so no more of that cereal.
My entire point here is, don't just assume that because something is organic that it's better than the conventional counterpart. Read your labels and do your research.
Also, I haven't had Kix in years and they're delish. Yum yum in my tum tum.
Speaking of yummy foods, GET THESE!!!
I found these in Walmart this weekend while grocery shopping and had to get them. They are so effing good and the ingredients are pretty effing good for a "healthy" dessert. This one is cake batter on the inside with a red velvet coating on the outside. I think the pack of 4 was $5 and yes, it's a bit expensive but totally worth it to me. So I will be getting more of them. Great job, Arctic Zero.
I know that you're not supposed to hold your children while they nap and they should always sleep in their crib and this is probably part of why we struggle with sleep with Jules, but I don't care. I love when Jules takes a nap and cuddles on me during the weekend. Unless we're driving or doing something outside the home I almost always lay down with her on the couch during nap time and she falls asleep on me for an hour or two. Yes, it's a time suck, but I don't care. I just watch tv or play on my phone or try to nap myself (but I'm incapable of napping, so that never actually happens).
Can't stop, won't stop.
I also won't stop with adorable Jules pictures, because I always take so many of them!
She was ready to go to work on Saturday morning.
(she's super into purses right now)
But first she had to walk the dog.
And before you think I only take pictures of Julianna, let's take a gander at how freaking huge my man-child is. Seriously, he looks like a MAN from behind. He can stop growing up now. But only as long as he figures out that he needs to wear deoderant every day. Teenagers smell.
I don't have as many pictures of Justin simply because he is able to duck and hide or conceal his face before I can take the picture. Jules is pretty much defenseless and I take pictures of her all day long and she can't stop me *evil laugh*
I just wanted to show you guys my "new" skirt I wore earlier this week. It's super cute and I got it USED for like $10 at this store called Style Encore. It's essentially a Plato's Closet that has clothes other than Forever 21. I ended up getting 2 J. Crew skirts and one of them is a size 6 (this one, in fact), which makes me SUPER happy since J. Crew sizes tend to be less than forgiving. My pre-baby sizing was around a 4-6, so this makes me feel like I'm getting there and for that I say YAYYYYYYYYY!!
Speaking of clothes, I eat like a slob and always end up with food all over my clothes. No joke, almost every day. So I thought you'd like to see a picture to prove how much of a hot mess I am. This is from last Friday. #fashionista
I know I'm super late on the Hamilton train, but I'm officially obsessed. I only decided to give the soundtrack a listen due to having Jules in the bathroom with me while I took a shower - I was hoping it would keep her entertained since the guy from Hamilton wrote most of the songs from Moana and she loves those. It didn't work for her, but it was love at first listen for me! If you haven't listened to it yet and you like musicals, DO IT!!
Now I just need to win the lottery so I can get tickets to see it on Broadway. And I'll need to sell my soul - I'm pretty sure that's the only way to get tickets right now.
I'd like to leave you with some thoughts from 30 year old Jamie...
She's pretty smart, eh?
Do you have anything you're really feeling today that you'd like to tell me about? How about Hamilton - did you start listening to the soundtrack when it first came out or are you late like me? Or do you not even care and you want me to shut up about it? Let me know what you think!
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
