It's HUMP day!! Wait, it is hump day, right? I had to check, because this week is going by so slowly! I have confirmed that it is indeed Wednesday, yeah!
Today I'm going to focus on the things that I'm feeling today/right now or:
What It is Wednesday!!!
Guys, I am so obsessed with poke bowls. And just so you know, it's pronounced po-kay, not po-kee. Ever since going to Hawaii, where the poke bowl originated, I CRAVE it on a regular basis. Now the poke bowls from Hawaii are on a whole other level - the fish is so fresh and the marinade is beyond amazing. While all of the bowls I've had back here on the mainland have veggies, fruit, and/or other random toppings, most of the poke bowls I had in Hawaii were just the marinated fish and rice. So they were simple, but oh so GOOD! If you're ever lucky enough to be on Oahu, I recommend you go to:
- The Hibachi in Kailua - http://thehibachihawaii.net/
- Ono Seafood in Honolulu - https://www.yelp.com/biz/ono-seafood-honolulu (they don't have a website)
And if you're in Orlando and craving a poke bowl there are some really good places to go that I'm more than happy to recommend because telling people what they should do is usually something they enjoy:
- Bento UCF; right by my work and I'd eat here 3 times a week (or more) if I could - http://www.bentocafesushi.com/orlando-ucf-area/
- Quickly Boba & Snow; not my favorite, but still good - https://www.yelp.com/biz/quickly-boba-and-snow-orlando-3?osq=Poke+Bowl
- Da Kine Poke; it's a food truck and I've never been here but have heard it's amazing - http://dakinepoke.com/
- Big Kahuna's Island Style Bowls; not open yet, but I'm excited for when it does - http://bigkahunasbowls.com/
I don't think it's a secret that I love wine and especially the red stuff. Prophecy wines have been popping up in my Instagram feed for a couple of weeks now so they're fresh in my mind (great marketing, btw!). Red blends are usually my favorite and when I went into Publix and saw a buy 1 get 1 deal I knew I had to try it out. They're $14.99 a bottle at Publix, so more than I'd normally pay for my weekend wine fix, but at buy 1 get 1, only $7.50 each - SCORE! I really enjoyed the wine - it's light and easy to drink without any biting or harsh notes. So scoop some up if you get a chance!
You may or may not know this about me, but music is my jam (I am way too cool for school because I say things like music is my jam). I listen to music all the time - commuting, running, work, while getting ready in the morning - and you could say my taste in music is all over the place. I might be rocking out to Slipknot one minute and the next, BAM it's Britney, bitch. Here are some songs that I'm digging right now:
- Happy Ending, The Strokes - alt rock
- When Your Heart Stops Beating, +44 - old school alt rock from my 20's!
- Mt. Olympus, Big K.R.I.T. - some rippity rap, which I'm sure the rap guys love for it to be referred as
- Around U, Ellie Goulding - POP
- Lost on You, LP - alt rock-ish, pop-ish stuff
- Sweatpants, Childish Gambino - rap where he uses onomatopoeia in a rhyme and says "don't be mad cause I'm doin me better than you doin you" - lyric of the year for me, my friends!
- Down on My Luck, Vic Mensa - techno hip hop-ish?
Anyone else currently being held hostage by Moana? It can't seriously be just me, right? We watch at least 15 minutes of Moana once a day, but usually end up watching more than that. It's the first movie that Jules ever sat down and watched, and she asks to watch it whenever she sees it on our Apple TV. Meaning she points at the screen and goes "mooooh" and then looks at me (Not moo like a cow, she's not that mean yet...mooooh like more). You can't say no to that. The sliver lining to knowing all of the songs by heart and getting close to having the dialogue down because I've watched it or had it in the background approximately 400 times? I get to get crap done. Thank you, Moana, for giving me 15-30 minutes to clean/cook/guzzle down some wine/browse the internets for more crap I can tell people about.
I love working out and I usually workout 5-6 days a week. I'm currently doing a mix of Chalean Extreme (lifting weights 3 days a week), a 10-30 minute pilates workout twice a week depending on how much time I have after my weight workout, running or kickboxing 3 times a week, HIIT once or twice, & yoga usually once a week.
You might look at all of that and be like, this chick is CRAZY and works out way too much. WRONG! I work out so I don't go crazy and it's way cheaper and better for you than being crazy. Also my workouts combined don't usually end up lasting longer than an hour, so they're really not that long. Depending on how tired I am that morning, I'll sometimes skip part of a workout or substitute with something I'm feeling more than what I had planned. I've found that if you listen to your body it'll usually tell you what you should do and I rarely get injured or feel overdone from too much working out anymore.
I'll do a post-baby body post sometime soon, but at 13 months postpartum I still have 5-8 pounds to lose and my stomach looks like a giant, deflated watermelon balloon filled with rice (the watermelon stripes are all of my beautiful stretch marks). But remember, you earned those stripes. And your kids will be more than glad to point them out and poke at your stomach when they see you without a shirt on. Justin has pointed at it many times while saying "ewwww" and crinkling his nose - isn't that just so super special?
So now I'm going to turn the tables and ask you, what is IT for you right now? Are you into any of the things that I'm into or do you have any fun recommendations? Don't be shy - who will be the first person to comment?
(inserting a shameless plug for my snapchat - that ish is funny, man!) Find me at mloylo0182 and get ready to bust a gut or get super offended. Maybe even both!
